Respect for Life

'Every human being, because of their intrinsic dignity, deserves minimum justice, and therefore, possesses inalienable rights (life, liberty, property).  These rights are a universal obligation and belong to every person by their very nature.  No court, legislature or state body can take that away.

The most objective and fundamental definition of a human being that we can come to, that cannot be challenged on the level of objectivity and is not subject to whim or the clarity criteria (only in the eye of the beholder), is the full human genome, which includes the mitochondrial DNA, i.e. the Eve gene.

This definition is fundamental enough that we don’t deprive anyone of their inalienable rights. Thus, every human being that possesses a full human genome has intrinsic dignity that goes beyond all appearances and is irrespective of their stage of development, of whether they have a manifest IQ or not and of their projected opportunities and potentials.

Every single solitary being with a full human genome possesses inalienable rights.  The possession of those rights must be guaranteed by every state, every court, every legislature and every law.  If they are not, that court is invalid, that legislature is invalid and they give an unjust law.'
~Robert S. Spitzer, S.J.

When the Supreme Court ruled on Roe v. Wade in 1973, it noted that man's knowledge was not yet capable of determining when life begins.  Medical technology has now firmly established that the life of a human person begins at the moment of conception.

All Human Beings Should Have Inalienable Rights
